Laura Latvala

1921 - 1986

Finland

Laura Latvala was born in Lappo, worked as a psychiatrist, and was married to the writer Olavi Siipainen.

She made her debut in the 1940s with traditional verse, but later gave up this constricting form in favour of a more straightforward means of expression, for example in Keulaneitsyt, 1958, the hospital diary Tuulien talo, 1964, and Rinascita, 1971, which reflects on existential issues.

She also wrote poems for children, writing some of her poetry collections together with her husband.
