Iboja Wandall-Holm

Iboja Wandall-Holm was born in former Czechoslovakia. She lost her family during the war, but survived the death march from Auschwitz concentration camp in 1945. After the war, she studied in Prague and moved to Denmark in connection with her marriage in 1955. She has also lived in Africa, Iran, USA, and Austria and has worked as a translator and lecturer and for the radio.

Iboja Wandall-Holm made her debut in 1965 with Digte. She has also written children’s books and tales. She returned to poetry with her poetry collection I morgen, når fuglene vågner, 1989, followed with Landskaber i førnutid. Digte og billeder, 1993. In 1991 she published the autobiographical story Morbærtræet, which describes existence during World War II and in the concentration camps.

The above biography was first published in 1998. Since then, Iboja Wandall-Holm has written the memoirs Farvel til århundredet – en fortælling om Europa, 2000, and a revised and extented edition of Morbærtræet.
